SFL's field assessment of the Sudan humanitarian crisis in October 2006 confirmed shelter and food emergencies, few functioning schools, and virtually no access to health care. Currently, SFL has one on-going project in the Eastern Equatorial county of Torit. The Sustainable Livelihood Development project targets 125 returnee families. SFL has provided basic tools and equipment to returnees to help jumpstart agro-pastoral production. The tools purchased include: 125 hand hoes, 125 pangas and 125 axes. Moreover, SFL's coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture has resulted in their contribution of 9 ox-ploughs to complement SFL efforts. This has allowed SFL to increase the number of bulls purchased and increased our impact on the region. |
