On Tuesday, June 10th, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) attacked the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, and began a series of violent movements as they worked their way south towards Baghdad. As they march, thousands of Iraqis are being displaced from their homes. In especial danger are the Christian and Yazidi minorities, of whom ISIS has vowed to convert or kill. About 3,000 of these minorities have taken shelter in small villages around the Kurdish-Iraqi city of Akre.
Shelter For Life appeals for your financial support to help us respond to this urgent crisis which is crippling the thousands of victims of this extremist organization. Immediate needs of these displaced minorities include drinking water, food, and non-food items (blankets, clothing, etc.).
Please see some photographs below, showing the water trucking operations that SFL has already begun in the displaced communities around Akre.
Thank you for your much-needed financial support. It is easy and secure to donate via the Donate Now page on our website by clicking here. All donations are tax-deductible.
